Are professional pet services about to become more expensive in Australia?

Hot news just in from our Industry may soon translate to some prices going up for some professional pet services in Australia.
Professional pet services especially kennels and grooming could soon become a little more expensive after 'the Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission most recent direction that the 'Miscellaneous Award 2010’ does now apply to the work of animal attendants. Previously (between 2010-2017) the Fair Work Ombudsman and the Fair Work Commission has published advice and decisions that the pet boarding industry was Award Free.'
No one likes to see costs going up but on the flip side we think it’s important that professional people who are trained, skilled and competent in animal care can only be a good thing for everyone, especially for those relying on us to provide the best professional care there is for their loved pet family members. And along with good fair work should go fair pay. Ofcourse one of the hurdles will always be the apparent cash market economy operating in our industry sector, the accidental pet sitters that often end up working for very little and the pet services sharing economy and social websites that often promote and take advantage of them. It seems that the Fair Work Commission and other agencies may soon be coming to grips with that.
